APEPTICO - Innovation in peptide drugs
Profile
APEPTICO is a privately-held development stage biotechnology company based in Austria, developing peptide-based products targeting chronic and life-threatening diseases. The peptide molecules correspond to validated, pharmacodynamic active structures and domains of well-known proteins and biopharmaceuticals.
During its formation, APEPTICO received pre-seed funding from Austria Wirtschaftsservice (AWS), from Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG) and from INITS in Vienna, Austria.
In 2009, APEPTICO closed a first seed financing round led by The BioScience Ventures Group (Munich, Germany) and included the participation of the Swiss business angel Dr. Jürg Geigy. The completion of the financing round entitled APEPTICO to receive a reserch grant from Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft in Vienna.
APEPTICO used the allocated capital to push ahead the pre-clinical development of its lead compound AP301.
In 2010, based on the successful pre-clinical development of APEPTICO’s lead peptide AP301, the company closed a second financing round. The second financing round included institutional and private investors from Germany and Switzerland. In addition, APEPTICO will receive a research grant from the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
APEPTICO used the new allocated capital to initiate the early clinical development of its lead compound AP301.
